Thigh-high boots: motorcycle

So! It looks like Endless is having a sale!  The front page says that they take 25% off select "new fall" purchase for shoes and accessories over $100... I didn't explore it since I am on a ban :-(  Hopefully a lot of people can and have taken advantage before the offer expires!

It is still August, but funnily enough, there are TONS of thigh-high boots for sale.  These are still going to be worn with tights  for fall and winter.  For casual days out, I know that I would much rather wear tights than jeans because they are more comfortable.  Boots are very expensive, so now is the chance to take a percentage off.

Here are some of my favorite over-the-knee boots that are motorcycle boot inspired or  have a tough edge.

MIA "Tallulah": Tall leather shaft with two buckles and a sturdy high heel.  Simple, but sexy.

Camel and Khaki for Fall/Winter 2010

I've heard rumblings that camel is the new black, but that will never be true.  For the fall and winter seasons, wearing all black will always be IT.  If you wear camel head to toe, you will look like a jackass:

Down in the Dumps

I've been killing my dreams.  This blog post from Paulo Coehlo was saddening, inspiring, and all together the wake-up call that I needed.  The part that really struck a cord with me was the following:

The first symptom of the process of our killing our dreams is the lack of time. The busiest people I have known in my life always have time enough to do everything. Those who do nothing are always tired and pay no attention to the little amount of work they are required to do. They complain constantly that the day is too short. The truth is, they are afraid to fight the Good Fight.

When I felt busy, productive, and happy, I had time for everything!  But this year I really shut myself away from the world, thinking a half-hearted effort would get me closer to my goals.  This is NOT the case, and I knew it.  This whole year I didn't have time for anything, because I always felt the need to "decompress."  I was definitely scared of the Good Fight.  So before I got anything worthwhile done, I had to pack up my lunch for the following day and go to sleep.  I've been miserable all year and have no accomplishments for 2010.

Oh yeah, and I failed the CFA exam - I didn't feel too bad about it, but I do plan on taking it in December.  And yes, I have started studying!  I also didn't do well in my first grad school course, but I plan to do better for the fall.  Thinking like an undergrad is not cutting it at all. Still scared, but willing to fight and win.

Enough with the moping and TMI - I am going to prepare some beauty posts this weekend! I haven't haven't been cured from my beauty-junkie-itis.

btw, I took that photo in Le Jardin Exotique in Eze, France.  One of the best photos that I have ever taken.

Back! part 2

I know, I am SHAMEFUL.  And I had no idea how to check comments before, plus I had NO IDEA anyone was reading this stuff! lol.  Thanks to Carl for letting me know not to let the Dr. Hauschka mask dry completely - that's always the assumption with clay masks, isn't it?

Some things I need to discuss:

  • St. Tropez self-tanner for brown people.  I am black/mixed race, NC45ish.  St. Tropez WINS.
  • Nail Polish! of course.  Chanel, Ginger + Liz, my favorite vampy colors, Zoya.
  • Dominican hair care products.  Round Brush Hair has gotten some of my hard-earned dollars and so far so good!
  • My attempt at a Dominican blowout = epic fail.
  • My perfume samples and which ones are currently is on bottle-worthy status.
... or is that "statuses"? I dunno :-)

Hopefully this is not it! I loaded my twitter account onto my phone, so link me with comments and questions!
